Final Update to Eden's Pajama Project

Last year's Pajama Project went so well.  Thanks so much to YOUR generosity.  We were able to deliver pairs of pajamas, toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste to AN ENTIRE SCHOOL in rural Morocco last October.

My brother in law is a teacher at the school and adores his work.  The kids were shy, but so sweet.  They were truly stunned to be receiving gifts for the very first time.  (Gifts aren't given routinely given in Morocco.) The school was quite a rough drive from the town of Tafetachte which is on the road between Marrakech and Essaouira.  Our taxi bounced along for ages.  I wondered why a school would be situated in such a place that seemed to be in the middle of nowhere.  But my husband said that its placement was strategic, as it allowed kids to come from other remote farms and villages all around in every direction.  And soon we started to see them.  Tiny 6 and 7 year olds walking alone for several kilometers to get to school.  Some of them walk for up to 2 and a half hours ONE WAY to get to school each day.  All by themselves  It was shocking to me.  But they do it!  And they are being well educated.

But, once we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised.  The school was cute, brightly coloured and clean.  The children were eager to see our taxi pull up as they were told that we would be coming.  Not only did we bring the PJ packages for each one of them, we bought a half dozen soccer balls for them to play with out in the yard.  (They have NO sports equipment at all.  Just dusty, rocky ground.) After we were greeted, we met each class and handed out the gifts.  It was quite the day! And....  Eden has a brand new project in mind for this little school.

Stay tuned!
